IMAGINARY ISLAND PUZZLE (#IIP1): $270.00

More than a puzzle: a geography experience for all ages

The Imaginary Island Puzzle is a unique and exciting extension material for the Montessori geography curriculum. 84 multi- directional, non-interlocking pieces portray common land and water forms to create river systems, mountains, coastlines and land bridges. Students use as many pieces as they wish to create their own unique island or continent, from very simple to complex.

The Imaginary Island Puzzle is offset printed in full color and mounted on durable, rigid chipboard. The face is laminated for protection, and land and water form vocabulary is printed on the back of each piece. Pieces are also coded to represent four levels of difficulty for easy sorting and staged exploration.

The complete puzzle includes a small ship, symbolic fauna, grid numbers and letters, compass rose, graphing paper, and a set of Explorations Cards: these staged, self-directed activities help students practice the use of directions, scale, vocabulary and more. For each task, students are asked to build an island using one or more levels of the puzzle, then answer questions or explore a concept through an activity.

The task cards, 5-1/2"x8-1/2", are printed on hearty card stock and are coded for easy referral.

TASK CARDS only (#IIP2) (these are included in complete puzzle set--no separate purchase necessary): $50.00
